2026 Update – Engaging targets for multiple cover positions from one spot

The 2026 rule book now has a rule addressing this and it is clearly not allowed. However it does not address moving from an “in the open” start to a cover position without first engaging the in the open targets. Based on the phrasing that penalizes the shooter “if a shooter is exposed to other unengaged targets associated with a different shooting position” we will assume it also prohibits moving to a cover position without first engaging any in the open targets.

The new rule:

3.5.10.4 Shooter exposure to multiple target arrays while engaging targets: Engaging targets from distant cover beyond the end of a fault line is not itself a penalty. However, while using distant cover, if a shooter is exposed to other unengaged targets associated with a different shooting position they incur a penalty under 3.5.6. if not within a physical fault line at a Position of Cover (e.g. a shooter in an open area between positions of cover)
